Can the confrontation with the origins make the sound marginal?

"Margem" is the result of approaching the origins, to the compositions played on the piano. After years of being absorbed by the electronics of synthesizers, either in bands or solo, I felt my ears changing. I was encouraged by friends to improvise on the piano, and it all sounded new to me. Working at the piano, I sketched scores, improvised on the improvisation, recorded. I dialoged with electronics, again recorded. In "Margem", I cohabit the long tradition of piano intercepted by imaginative synthesizers. Perhaps they occupy the same space. Its the sound synthesis possible, is it marginal?


O confronto com as origens torna o som marginal?

"Margem" é o resultado da aproximação às minhas origens de composição ao piano. Depois de anos absorvido pela eletrónica dos sintetizadores, ora em formato de banda, ora a solo, senti os meus ouvidos a mudar. Após improvisações ao piano, encorajadas por amigos, tudo soou-me como novo. Sento-me ao piano, esboço partituras, improviso sobre o improviso, gravo. Dialogo com a eletrónica, gravo. Em Margem, co-habito a longa tradição de piano interceptada por imaginativos sintetizadores. Talvez habitem o mesmo espaço. É a síntese sonora possivel, marginal?
